Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

BioHit – IgM and IgG Antibody Finger Stick Test

The FDA approved swab test is manufactured by BGI Americas.

The FDA approved antibody test is manufactured by BioHit (checks for previous infection via antibody detection) & usually takes 15-20 minutes for the whole process including results, which are handed to you before you leave.

Yes, Biohit received their FDA EUA Approval in June of 2020.

Antibody tests are resulted in 10 minutes and physical results are provided to the patient.

IgM – Antibodies can appear 1-3 weeks post infection.
IgG – Antibodies can appear 2-6 weeks post infection.
Each patient’s timeline of making antibodies will differ based on their immune system and how fast they can shed the virus.

IgM – Antibodies made by the immune system during the acute phase of the infection.
IgG – Antibodies made by the immune system during the late phase of the infection.
Showing both antibodies can indicate mid-cycle of the infection.

Most employers require the PCR Swab test before returning to work.

Antibodies test is not the gold-standard for diagnosing a patient for COVID-19. The PCR Swab test should be utilized for diagnosing purposes.
Antibodies test is solely used to determine if the patient’s immune system currently or previously battled the COVID-19 virus.

Antibodies are not currently linked with Immunity
The medical industry is collecting data and further research/time will allow us to determine what having antibodies equate to clinically.

The medical industry is currently suggesting Antibodies stay in the system between 6-9 months post exposure.

BGI Americas – SARS-CoV-2 Molecular Nucleic Acid PCR Swab Test

Yes, BGI received their FDA EUA Approval in March of 2020.

No, the swab is placed in an area which does not contain nerve endings causing pain.

No, the swab is directed towards your ear, not upwards to your eyes or brain.

Watery eyes, cough and a small amount of pressure are possible symptoms for a few minutes after the swab test.

Results are emailed to the patients within 48 hours of taking the test.

The CDC recommends retesting 14 days after each POSITIVE Swab test
If you test POSITIVE on the re-test, wait another 14 days before testing again

Over 85% of patients who contract the COVID-19 virus are asymptomatic.

Most employers require one or two NEGATIVE swab results before an employee can return to work.
